What I've discovered is that since I am a super procrastinator, when I took pictures, I would never develop them. In fact, I have pictures I've never developed since 1992!! Anyway, now with the digital camera age, I have found a solution to my problem.
When I take pictures with my digital camera, I immediately remove the SD card and place it into my computer. After I bring up the pictures to be sure they are okay, I go out to www.Smilebox.com, a free software program that organizes your pictures. There are many kinds of features to choose from, ranging from hundreds of scrapbook, e-card, and slideshow designs. You can write captions and then send them for free, with advertising spots, or pay a small fee for no advertising, more music choices, etc.
You will need to know how to download photos or videos from your computer or storage drives. Your videos will have your own sounds or you can add several choices of music that is provided on the website if you want.
I e-mail them to my friends and family because it does not require them to have special software such as Word, etc. Again it forces me to "develop" the pictures and not wait so long!
